Clipper Group’s solution for vessel performance monitoring, COACH, has joined the ‘Green Ship of the Future’ project, which aims to makes ships more environmentally friendly through technologies and innovation via a network of companies.
COACH is a voyage monitoring and analysis system that assists with operations by analysing the hull, propeller, and engine efficiencies to reduce fuel consumption. It uses noon reports and energy deviation alerts to communicate its information and is used as a tool to optimise a fleet’s portfolio by identifying fuel efficient designs and over-consuming vessels.
The addition of COACH to the Green Ship of the Future project supports Green Ship’s activities that focus on developing environmental and energy efficiency projects to ships and the shipping industry, using technical developments and evaluations of solutions to push green innovations while keeping an eye on the commercial feasibility.
COACH will aim to demonstrate its ability to reach new achievements in energy efficiency and operating profiles on different ship types through this project.
Mathias Nyman Rasmussen, Senior Performance Manager for COACH at Clipper Group, commented: “Together we can effectively develop and showcase sustainable solutions across the shipping industry, while we still are aware of the commercial feasibility. We look forward to a partnership in development and innovation, and to do something about the sustainability task together.”
Clipper developed COACH in 2011 to help with the Group’s energy efficiency strategy and has been used with bulk carriers, multipurpose vessels and chemical tankers. To date, COACH has been installed on more than 325 ships worldwide.
