Ballast water treatment system manufacturer, Coldharbour Marine, has launched a new treatment process designed specifically for large dry bulk vessels and ore carriers that often have long voyage routes.
- BWTS uses company’s existing insert gas based GLDTM treatment plant to meet the needs of larger bulk carriers shipping large ballast water volumes.
- Coldharbour’s BWTS is an in-voyage process, with no filters and is appropriate for bulk carriers because it addresses stability issues specific to the ship type.
- The system ensures that the treatment process complies with the IMO’s standards, particularly where bulkers load extra heavy weather ballast water in cargo holds, which in-line systems can find hard to process and may be damaged.
