Finnish shipowner Containerships Ltd Oy has announced that the delivery of six of its 1,400 TEU liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered container ships have been delayed and the company has since changed shipyards.
The ships, which were on order at China’s Yangzhou Guoyu Shipbuilding, were initially scheduled to be delivered in Q1 of 2017 onwards with all four ships operational by 2018 at the latest. However, the latest interim report from Containerships states that the first four LNG-powered ships are targeted to be delivered during 2018.
Re-negotiations of the two company-own-financed ships and two other ships are ongoing.
