Corvus Energy is to provide lithium-ion batteries for a hybrid rubber-tiered gantry crane at the Yidong Terminal, Shanghai.
What you need to know:
- Corvus claims its energy storage system will generate 65% fuel savings. It says it is cleaner and quieter too.
- The battery design is small, ultra high power and liquid cooled. It’s designed to meet the power requirements of an RTG more effectively according to the manufacturer.
- Hybridisation of port cranes is becoming more popular as a way to help port operators increase efficiencies, reduce emissions, and ease concerns of those living nearby.
