Corvus Energy has this week introduced its next generation Orca Energy Storage System (ESS) product line.
Orca ESS solutions are also applicable to a variety of ships, up to and beyond 10MWh. The product range includes Orca Energy, which is particularly suited to large energy consuming vessels, such as ferries and merchant ships, while Orca Power is designed for applications that require seamless response to dynamic power loads, including offshore supply vessels and port equipment.
The Orca ESS product line has been designed to be the safest and highest performing ESS within the maritime industry, say Corvus. It covers a range of products that are designed to meet various needs of maritime customers.
The product line was designed based on experience from more than 50 vessels totalling 35MWh and 1 million operating hours that are currently utilising a Corvus ESS.
Typical installed costs reduced by up to 50% due to the solutions’ density and increased lifespan.
Orca Energy and Orca Power also feature patented technology that delivers cell-level thermal runaway isolation. This level of safety is standard across the Orca ESS product line and does not require active cooling techniques, such as liquid cooling for it to be effective. Furthermore, cables and manual connections are eliminated thanks to the power connections contained within the rack, which not only increases reliability but also maximises safety and reduces installation costs.
The Orca ESS product line will be unveiled for the first time at the Electric & Hybrid Marine World Expo in Amsterdam, held June 21-23.
