COSCO Returns to Thordon Bearings to Order More Seawater-Lubricated Bearing Systems

COSCO continues to place orders for seawater lubricated COMPAC Propeller Shaft Bearing Systems from Thordon Bearings following the successful application and impact of the technology on their bulk carriers. Their most recent order amounted to 17 systems in total.

The latest order will see a range of merchant and offshore newbuilds, including a 90,000 DWT semi-submersible heavy transport vessel and three 50,000 DWT bulk carriers, currently being built at a number of Chinese shipyards, fitted with the technology.

Also include in COSCOs order is Thordon’s Water Quality Package to provide a constant and clean seawater flow to the bearing sin order to extend their wear life further compared with oil lubricated bearings.

This makes COSCO Thordon Bearings’ largest customer for the COMPAC system to-date.
