Crowley Maritime To Test CAT Engine & Ship Performance Monitoring System

Crowley Maritime Corporation is to test Caterpillar Intelligence’s (CAT) on-board software solution that enables monitoring of the engines, generators, thrusters and critical systems twenty four hours a day, seven days a week.

CAT Asset Intelligence services provide monitoring and diagnostics for an entire ship, as opposed to solely engine performance.  CAT’s dedicated fleet advisors will then use the aggregated data and automated analytics to advise Crowley on how to increase the ship’s performance and improve their equipment management onboard.

For example, the software can give early warning signs of a catastrophic failure in order to schedule maintenance and save time and money, also ensuring optimum fuel usage. The solution is scalable and customisable, and can monitor and analyse CAT and non-CAT products.

Crowley Maritime Corporation has established a governance committee to analyse the CAT software’s performance onboard and, if it proves valuable, hopes to expand the monitoring and diagnostics to other ships in its fleet.
