Crowley Maritime Corp, has taken delivery of its fourth liquefied natural gas (LNG) conversion-ready tanker that has also been fitted with a range of fuel efficiency features in order to reduce its environmental impacts.
The 50,000 DWT MT West Virginia is a Jones Act product tanker that is LNG-ready, meaning that it can be converted for propulsion to operate on LNG to reduce emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulphur oxides (SOx) and particulate matter. West Virginia will join its sister ships, Louisiana, Ohio, and Texas as the first ever tankers to receive the American Bureau of Shipping’s (ABS) LNG-ready Level 1 approval.
