Cunard Cruise Ship Relaunched After Scrubber Installations

UK-based cruise line Cunard Line, a subsidiary of Carnival Corporation & plc (carnival), has relaunched its flagship 148,528 gross tonne vessel the ocean liner Queen Mary 2 following a significant refit costing in the region of usd 132 million.

Work on the cruise ship included he installation of four new exhaust gas cleaning systems (scrubbers), new drives, maintenance of the three bow thrusters and a new paint job.

The shipbuilding and mechanical engineering work comprised modifications to the bridge wing, the installation of new bulkheads for improved damage stability and modifications to the tanks.

The refit of the 2003-built cruise ship was conducted at the German Blohm + Voss shipyard in Hamburg.
