The Danish Maritime Authority has stated that global regulations and guidelines on safety are vital to help reduce operational accidents.
- According to the Authority, Denmark has a desire to increase the level of safety, but consideration on the structure of the IMO regulation is required.
- Last week the IMO began work on the development of a new international standard for the carriage of Industrial Personnel by sea. This standard and a new chapter of SOLAS is expected to be ongoing for a couple of years with view to entry into force in 2024.
- DMA hopes that its work can be intensified on the draft regulations and guidelines before the next Sub-Committee on Ship Design and Construction meeting is held in 2018.
