Digital Demands Drive Rampant Acquisitions In The Satcoms Sector

18 Nov 3

As the industry sails into a highly digitalised and connected age, satellite communications service providers are increasingly swallowing smaller competitors to ensure they hold a firm space in this growing market and can offer the best services that meet the data and connectivity demands of the global fleet.

This week SpeedCast International announced its fifth acquisition of 2015, this time having set the wheels in motion to acquire Singapore-based satcoms service provider ST Teleport.

ST Teleport is the leading independent provider of satellite services in Singapore and therefore through this acquisition, Speedcast will not only significantly strengthen its presence in Singapore and extend their global network but they will also gain ST Teleport’s world-class teleport facilities and data centre infrastructure in Singapore.

What Do Speedcast Say?

“The acquisition of ST Teleport takes our capabilities in the strategic hub of Singapore to a completely different level.  This is very important for our growth in Asia-Pacific in maritime and energy,” said Pierre-Jean Beylier, CEO of SpeedCast.

The acquisition of ST Teleport is subject to regulatory approval.

“ST Teleport represented a significant opportunity, as it is one of only two major teleport infrastructures in Singapore, at the heart of our core Asian maritime and energy markets.”
