The age profile of a crew on-board a vessel can have a significant impact on getting the most out of the technology on-board a vessel according to TORM’s head of HR Simon Frank.
Frank made this statement at the BIMCO & Fathom Prime Performance conference, hosted in Copenhagen today.
He explained that TORM now engage in age-related crew planning for vessels to ensure that there is the right mix of both experience and age to support maximising the technological performance of a vessel. Their own internal analysis has shown this can be key in supporting optimal performance and ensuring a well-balanced crew on board.
Frank stated that you need a mix of excellent experience with newer/younger seafarers in order to encourage the best use of available technology.
TORM believes that age profile will become even more important in the future as further technological advances and changes are introduced.
