Pieter Dijkstra, Managing Director of Visedo Marine, claimed the Chief Engineer of the Year award at the 2016 Electric & Hybrid Marine Awards, held at the Electric & Hybrid Marine World Expo from June 21-23 in Amsterdam.
Mr Dijkstra has driven development, delivery and installation of the drivetrain solution for the E-ferry project that has the largest battery capacity of any ferry in the world. Mr Dijkstra also oversaw the supply installation of the complete liquefied natural gas (LNG)-electric propulsion drivetrain for the Damen Eco-Liner inland vessel.
The E-ferry will be placed into service in June 2017 to transport vehicles and passengers between Ærø island and Denmark’s mainland.
