The Danish Maritime Authority (DMA) has said that its EfficienSea2 project is ready to demonstrate its first results.
Some of the smart solutions developed a part of the project will be launched at an upcoming conference in early November.
The aim of the EfficienSea2 project is to create and implement innovative and smart solutions for efficient, safe and sustainable shipping at sea by increasing connectivity between ships. The idea is to develop solutions that will take e-navigation from testbeds to real-life implementation.
The project will now present beta releases of some of its solutions including the Maritime Cloud and BalticWeb.
Opening up the Maritime Cloud framework, which is designed to enhance connectivity for e-navigation, will help information suppliers to develop and insert digital information services in the service registry. This will enable information to be provided in a safe manner to the right identities so that the right data reaches the right person. End-users can use a single log-in for all information services and trust that the suppliers are the ones that they claim to be.
The web-based platform BalticWeb will also be release with the aim to help navigating officers access digital services, such as weather and navigation warnings from their computers and tablets once they are made available in the Maritime Cloud. This will allow ship crew to access new, digital information services from suppliers immediately without needing to wait for information flows to become integrated in the standard equipment on the navigation bridge.
The beta releases will be presented at the ‘Getting Connected to the Future’ conference, which will be held in Copenhagen on 8-9 November 2016.
