The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) has announced that during February 2017 eight foreign flagged vessels were detained in port for failing Port State Control inspections.
- Six of these ships were held in detention from previous months.
- MCA posts details of foreign flagged vessels held in UK ports each month in compliance with the EU Directive on Port State Control.
- Reasons for vessel detainment last month include defect emergency generators, defect lifeboats and onboard training, missing certificates, and defect calculation and payment of seafarer wages.
See the MCA’s website for a complete list of vessels detained and reasons why.
