Eight foreign flagged vessels held under UK detention during February 2017

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) has announced that during February 2017 eight foreign flagged vessels were detained in port for failing Port State Control inspections.

  • Six of these ships were held in detention from previous months.
  • MCA posts details of foreign flagged vessels held in UK ports each month in compliance with the EU Directive on Port State Control.
  • Reasons for vessel detainment last month include defect emergency generators, defect lifeboats and onboard training, missing certificates, and defect calculation and payment of seafarer wages.

See the MCA’s website for a complete list of vessels detained and reasons why.
