Veritas Petroleum Services (VPS) and Seagull Maritime AS are to launch fuel management e-training into the maritime market.
The duo have signed a collaborative agreement to develop a comprehensive computer-based educational and training system that will focus on fuel sampling, testing and bunkering.
The first module is expected to be ready for the shipping industry by the middle of the year.
According to VPS, this collaboration was spurred by the pressing need for seafarers to fully understand fuel quality issues and learn how to handle such challenges. Also that the crew of today are invariably short-handed and hard-pressed for time. Therefore, VPS believes that such fuel-related knowledge and capabilities are increasingly becoming the keys to mitigating engine breakdowns and unplanned operational downtime.
