The Gard P&I Club has become the first insurance incentive provider to join the Green Award Incentive Program.
Gard’s contribution will focus on an annual Gard Green Award event for ship owners and managers who hold the Green Award certificate. This seminar will address topics such as market challenges and trends, risk management and loss prevention, as well as innovation and new technology.
Gard will also help to benchmark the performance of Green Award vessels for the Green Award organisation.
The Green Award aims to promote the highest standards of sustainability, safety and quality, rewarding those ships that are extra clean and extra safe with financial and non-financial benefits. The certification procedure consists of an office audit and an audit of each individual ship applying for certification. The assessment focuses on crew, operational, environmental and managerial elements, amongst others.
