Lemissoler Navigation subsidiary, Frontmarine Co. Ltd, has achieved significant fuel savings of around 7% following the use of Hempel’s Dynamic antifouling coating.
Frontmarine’s 58,500DWT supramax newbuild carriers have achieved fuel consumption reductions from 23 – 24.7 tonnes per day during sea trials, thanks to both underside coating of Hempel’s Dynamic antifouling and the installation of fuel-efficient propellers.
The low friction, hydrolysing silyl acrylate allows Dynamic to generate on average 4% fuel savings. The microfiber technology provides it with mechanical strength to eliminate cracking and peeling.
At the time of writing, four of the eight newbuilds have been coated with Dynamic and based on performance so far, the other four are expected to be coated in due course.
