The German Maritime LNG Platform, a coalition of industry members driving the use of LNG, has signed the Arctic Commitment to call for a ban on the use of heavy fuel oil in the Arctic.
- Arctic Commitment was launched in January 2017 by a coalition of international non-governmental organisations known as the Clean Arctic Alliance.
- LNG Platform’s Managing Director, Tessa Rodewaldt, believes that a ban of HFO in the Arctic is needed due to its fragility.
- German Maritime LNG Platform joins an international movement to ban HFO and has been welcomed by Lead Advisor to the Clean Arctic Alliance, Sian Prior.
