The Green Award Foundation has collected the Green4Sea initiative award for promoting environmental sustainability in the shipping industry.
The Initiative Award category was to honour any person or company that sparked, realised, or significantly contributed in any initiative fostering environmental sustainability for the shipping industry.
They developed a cooperation platform that includes a system of incentives to providers to attract managing companies and ships benefiting affirming that not only comply with the national and international legislation, but demonstrate best practices across the regulatory framework.
Receiving the award on behalf of the Green Award, its President, Mr. Dimitri Matthew said: “I warmly thank those who honored the Green Award by voting in our quest to bring together managing companies and service providers who demonstrate not only compliance but exceeded the Regulatory Framework requirements. The Green Award provides a platform for Corporate Social Responsibility of managerial companies, ports, shipping services and shippers to cooperate for the sake of safety, quality and environmental excellence. The collaboration between these participants is what makes it so special Green Award. ”
Mr. Jan Fransen, Managing Director of Green Award added: “Indeed the Green Award has become what it is thanks to the efforts and cooperation of all participants. Managers certify companies and ships with excellent performance with the support of ports and maritime services providers. The reward and incentives provided by the Green Award give the necessary impetus for excellence. ”
Other nominations for this category were: Blue World, the International Windship Association, the Poseidon Med and the Society for Gas as a Marine Fuel.
The Awards ceremony was held during the GREEN4SEA Forum on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the Eugenides Foundation.
