Hapag-Lloyd has said that its lower transportation costs in 2016 are attributed to lower bunker consumption prices and improved fuel efficiency in its operations.
- Company says its transport costs declined by 13.3% to EUR 6.4 billion from 7.3 billion in 2015.
- This was largely driven by lower average bunker consumption price of USD 210/tonne compared with 312/tonne in 2015 Hapag-Lloyd says.
- Company also says that its transport volume was increased by 2.7% from 2015-2016.
