Marine biofuel company, GoodFuels, and foodstuff distributor Nedcargo, have announced a pilot project to demonstrate the advantages of using sustainable drop-in marine fuel for operating inland transport barges.
- A 30% biofuel solution from GoodFuels will be used in the For Ever inland barge to transport Heineken beer from the brewery in Zoeterwoude to the deep sea terminals in Rotterdam.
- According to the companies, CO2 emissions will be reduced by more than 25%, while emissions of particulate matter and nitrogen oxides will also be lowered.
- The project will show how low emission biofuel can be used to transport products without vessel modification. Emissions will be monitored live using Blueco’s Konnexus system.
