Hull & Propeller Performance Software To Be Thrusted Into German Market

Hull and propeller performance software developers propulsion Dynamics have teamed up with Hamburg-based Ecks Marine in order to push their CASPER solution into the German market.

Ecks Marine will focus on the sales and marketing of the product, bringing its attention to the heads of the tonnage owners and operators in Germany.

CASPER, which is the acronym for Computerised Analysis of Ship Performance, is a turnkey subscription service that provides owners and operators, ship managers and chartering managers with decision-making support for technical and operational fuel efficiency programmes.

CASPER captures big data at periodic intervals, while Propulsion Dynamics’s team of Naval Architects makes precise calculations of speed through water, fuel oil consumption, and added resistance.

Propulsion Dynamics say that comparing actual performance of the ship to the sea trial performance of a newbuild ship, with a completely clean and smooth hull, enables ship owners and operators to view the potential performance of the ship and to establish hull efficiency.

The service also allows ship operators to see when to carry out cleaning and maintenance procedures at an early enough time to save fuel without over cleaning, which can result in hull damage.  Propulsion Dynamics also states that services under CASPER are compatible with all monitoring and data recording systems, requiring no additional software or instruments to sign up ships in the program.

Since 2003, over 10,000 CASPER Reports have been completed to deliver performance increases in the range of +/-5% within 2 years.
