An International Maritime Organization (IMO) Convention Database program developed by Korean Register, has been introduced called, called KR-CON, that aims to enhance efficiency for Port State Control Officers (PSCO), shipping companies, seafarers, ship builders, training institutes and classification societies.
A journalist from the Borneo Bulletin attending the Brunei-Korea ICT Conference reported on the news following their attendance at the conference.
KR-CON provides access for the industry to real-time upgrades on major IMO conventions, codes and regulations and allows users to search for regulations specific to individual vessels.
As there are many maritime regulations and legislation existing, which undergo constant revision and amendments, it becomes increasingly complex over time to keep up-to-date, and so this database program aims to provide the latest IMO compliance guidelines for industry stakeholders.
KR-CON is available in three versions, web, USB and mobile application to enable easy access, even without internet connection. KR-CON will be upgraded on an annual basis according to the Korean Register, using all of the latest technology developments available.
The presentation, ‘Case Study on Software Development in Compliance with International Standard’ was given by Jeon Jeong-Chong, General Manager of Convention and Legislation Team at Korean Register, according to the Borneo Bulletin.
