The International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) has approved draft amendments to the Ballast water Management convention, specifically regulation B-3 and an MEPC resolution to determine the date referred to in regulation B-3 for ships to comply with the D-2 standards.
The amendments provide a solution by making indirect reference to the renewal survey associated with the IOPP Certificate of Annex I of MARPOL rather than to the Survey Guidelines under the Harmonized System of Survey and Certification (HSSC) or surveys associated with other instruments.
The draft amendments will be circulated by the IMO immediately upon entry into force of the BWM Convention.
