The International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) 69th session, held last week in London, made progress on the review of the Guidelines for approval of BWMS (G8).
Progress was made at this session with regard to the review of the Guidelines for approval of treatment systems.
Work will now continue through the review group taking into account the findings of the study on the implementation of the ballast water performance standard, with the view to be finalised and approved at the next MEPC in October.
The Committee also invited the PPR4 to look at the definition of ‘’viable organism’’.
