Fujitsu Limited has built a maritime big data platform for classification society Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK) to collect and accumulate operational data.
This data platform is the first shared platform in the maritime industry and will be operated as a data centre service by Ship Data Center Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of ClassNK.
The platform will take into account data on engines as well as weather information, enabling large maritime business such as ship operators and ship yards to extract data about ships under navigation. Operations personnel will then be able to predict malfunctions using engine operations data or to achieve more energy-efficient operation using voyage and weather data.
The platform will be available from April, 2016.
