UP TO 1,500 VESSELS GAIN ACCESS TO INMARSAT’S FLEET XPRESS SERVICE FOLLOWING AGREEMENT WITH TOTOTHEO.
SATLINK Satellite Communicationpartn, a division of Limassol-based Tototheo Group, has agreed a deal with UK-based Inmarsat to integrate Fleet Xpress into Satlink’s existing service portfolio.
The deal means more than 1,500 vessels will be brought into the Fleet Xpress service over a five-year period.
With a $1.6bn investment cost Inmarsat is promoting Global Xpress hard. In the maritime sector it has established Fleet Xpress (a mix of L-band and Ka-band services) pushing it as the route to creating the “connected ship.”
Satlink/Tototheo supplies, services and integrates installs satellite communications equipment on vessels. Its customers own merchant fleets, offshore, fishing and leisure vessels.
