NAPA’s Fleet Intelligence service was only launched in June this year, and is already picking up awards.
NAPA, the Finnish company now owned by Japanese class society Class NK, say Fleet Intelligence is the industry’s first web service that provides fleet owners with access to operational insights without the need for costly and laborious on-board installations.
That unique position may not last for ever, as competitors are already offering similar web-based services, but NAPA is certainly one of the first to see the demand for such a service knowing that nearly 90% of the world’s fleet (That’s Napa’s own estimate) are without any form of on board performance monitoring software.
Despite a concept of data monitoring that requires no equipment installation, no hardware, zero disruption, nor any input from the ship operator, NAPA says the tool has a verified accuracy averaging 95%,
They say “it offers quick and easy access to performance monitoring information that enables fleet owners to enhance the efficiency of their operations and boost their bottom lines”.
The service combines design information and remote-sensed data such as AIS, chart data and real-time environmental data with algorithms and hydrodynamic calculations developed by NAPA’s in-house data and analytics experts.
When the service launched it had a database of over 6.5 million voyages to base its insights on, The company says the database increases by over 10,000 voyages daily.
