Ionic Takes Delivery of Eco Bulk Carrier

Ionic has taken delivery of a 60,411 DWT Eco bulk carrier specifically designed to boost fuel efficiency and reduce nitrogen oxides (NOx) for MARPOL Annex VI compliance.

The NOx emissions of the M/V Ionic Unicorn will meet the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Tier II NOx emission standards thanks to its Mitsui-Man B&W diesel engine (the 6S50ME-B9.3).  The ship is also compliant with sulphur oxides (SOx) regulatory limits Emission Control Areas (ECAs).

The M/V Ionic Unicorn is the third eco-ship to have been constructed within a ‘neo-series’ and the 11th ship within the ‘neo60BC series’, features a specialised bow and stern to provide enhanced manoeuvrability and optimum operational performance in rough seas.

The ship was delivered to Ionic by Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (MES) at the end of March 2016. It is flagged by the Marshall Islands.
