Selektope, an ingredient used in antifouling coatings for repelling barnacle larvae from ships’ hulls has been used in a new product by Japan-based company, Chugoku Marine Paints.
- SEA GRANDPRIX 88HS PLUS, a coating based on hydrolysing technology that can be applied to vessels in service for up to 90 months, is the third product to be launched by CMP to contain Selektope.
- CMP claims a 45 day static performance level thanks to Selektope, which repels larvae without killing them by temporarily stimulating their swimming behaviour.
- Developed by I-Tech, Selektope is an organic non-metal compound that benefits from high efficacy at low concentrations and ultra-low leaching.
