On 29th November we will announce the winners of the industry’s first Smart Awards. We have four award categories up for grabs and the judges will have a tough job in finding a winner. Not only were there many more nominations, but the quality was far higher than expected.

The four categories we sought nominations are:
Digital Shipping Solution of the Year
This award is for a maritime solution company that has developed a solution for the shipping or maritime sectors that the judges can easily identify as making a significant business or shipborne impact over the last 18 months. The company behind the solution may be a new start-up offering a potentially disruptive business application, or an established company with a new solution that has the potential to make a significant difference to the evolution of the maritime and shipping sectors.
Digital Enabler of the Year
In this unique award we sought companies involved in the development of hardware and base solutions that are the enablers of the digital solutions that are emerging. This is for a major international company that can demonstrate the structure and willingness to liaise with others and create maritime platforms for the betterment of the shipping industry. Whether it is a company or organization involved in the business of creating connectivity or advanced services such as cyber security, this is an award for you. The judges will be looking for nominations that represent the best in class business solutions that are enabling business connectivity and applications to flourish.
Start-up of the Year
The category was for young companies or divisions that are at the start of their digital journey, offering potentially unique solutions to any part of the maritime and shipping industry. The winning nomination will be one where the expert judges see a solid potential business case, a good chance for success and just as importantly a drive and ingenuity from the entrepreneurs behind a company.
Digital Change Maker of the Year
This is a unique award for an individual that can be described as pushing the digital agenda to create industrial change. This person could be an expert in any range of digital solutions who has made a positive impact on the industry over the last 18 months. It could be a person within an organization that has been spearheading the organizational change of that company to embrace a host of digital solutions. It may also be someone within a digital enabler that should be recognized for their knowledge, passion and commitment to the maritime and shipping industries.
