K Line Group and Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd Group have developed the K-IMS integrated vessel operation and performance management system.
The companies say that the system was developed to improve operational safety, enhance environmental preservation and help fulfil sustainable business responsibility.
This performance software is based on two existing systems, the Ship Performance Analysing System (SPAS), which analyses the electrical AB log and vessel performance, and the Engine Plant Monitor (EP-Monitor) that remotely monitors the vessel engine plant condition.
It integrates the EP-Monitor and the SPAS, as well as Optimum Navigation System (NAVI), meaning that it is now able to collect and observe all kinds of operational data, including that from navigation.
By integrating different types of existing software systems, real-time operational data from ships can be obtained and the use of Big Data can be exploited further. Vessel operation can be supported and vessel management is a capability, as it optimum safety route selection, while the most up-to-date vessel performance information can be acquired.
