KBB to Reveal Latest Innovative Turbocharging Solutions

KBB (Kompressorenbau Bannewitz GmbH) are to reveal a range of innovative turbocharging manufacturing developments and projects at CIMAC congress 2016 in Helsinki, Finland, to meet emissions reduction challenges facing the industry today.

The company will present information on a number of projects that are being worked on to bring efficient solutions to the industry with a focus on low emissions, while providing high power output.  Single-stage high pressure turbochargers, two-stage turbochargers and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems for nitrogen oxides (NOx) reductions are just some of the latest technologies to be featured.

Updates on KBB’s ST27 series, which is able to achieve pressure ratios up to 5, 5:1 to meet both performance and emissions reductions requirements will also be revealed.  This is particularly significant as the series is able to work on dual-fuel and diesel engines that are fitted with EGR for compliance with International Maritime Organization (IMO) Tier III limits.

Latest developments on KBB’s ‘Knowledge to Boost’ (K2B) two-stage turbocharging system, which features intermediate cooling and provides the possibility for turbocharging diesel, heavy fuel oil (HFO) and gas engines with an engine output of up to 5 MW, will also be disclosed.  This is of particular interest as pressure ratios may be possible up to 10:1 for maximum efficiency when combining low pressure and high pressure turbocharging.
