Kenya wins IMO backing for technology maritime centre

The Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Kenya, has been selected by the IMO to host the Africa Maritime Technology Cooperation Centre (MTCC).

  • MTCC will receive EU funding, through IMO, to mitigate effects of climate change, raising awareness about policies, strategies and emissions reduction measures.
  • Centre will promote Global MTTC Network project, which helps developing countries to implement energy efficiency measures.
  • Technical assistance, capacity building and promotion of technical cooperation part of tech centre’s work.
