MAN Diesel & Turbo and its licensee Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding have presented a new high-pressure selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system.
- SCR is for two-stroke engines of all bore sizes. It reduces nitrogen oxides emissions to the IMO’s Tier III requirements.
- MAN Diesel & Turbo says the reactor size is significantly smaller as it makes use of specialised honeycombs and honeycomb materials. The SCR features an integrated mixing unit, making it more competitive in terms of its overall size.
- The first system is expected to be delivered from the beginning of 2018.
