Green Award certified companies will be able to benefit from discounted access to MarineTraffic’s extensive AIS network thanks to MarineTraffic signing up as an official incentive provider.
An increasing number of ship operators are using intelligence derived from AIS data to analyse, measure and drive a range of efficiencies across their fleets. On average, MarineTraffic receives position transmissions from 140,000 individual vessels per day.
MarineTraffic will provide three key incentives to Green Award certified ship-owning companies:
- 10% discount for any online subscription plan, including Enhanced Satellite Tracking for fleets.
- An extended free trial of MarineTraffic ship tracking systems. Certified companies will receive a three-month free trial for plans of their choosing, for an unlimited number of users, with premium support from the Customer Success team.
- Green Award logo prominently displayed on each certified vessel’s and company’s page on www.marinetraffic.com

The Green Award scheme aims to make excellent ship operation economically attractive, certifying ships that are extra clean and extra safe and enabling them to reap a variety of financial and non-financial benefits provided by incentive providers.
The Green Award scheme is open to oil tankers, chemical tankers and dry bulk carriers, LNG and LPG carriers, containerships and inland navigation vessels.
The Green Award certification procedure is carried out by the Bureau Green Award, the executive body of the independent Green Award Foundation. The certification procedure consists of a company office audit and an audit of each individual ship applying for certification. Fully repeated every three years and annually verified, the audit assessment focuses on crew, operational, environmental and managerial elements.
