MEPC 69 Takes Ballast Water Break.. Until Tomorrow

The 69th International Maritime Organization (IMO) Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) session has parked the Ballast Water Management agenda.

MEPC chairman Mr Arsenio Dominguez has instructed that considers under Item 4:  HARMFUL AQUATIC ORGANISMS IN BALLAST WATER will commence again tomorrow (Wednesday April 20, 2016) after he has spoken to the review group.

For those following the agenda, discussions were halted at agenda item 4/13.

The session has this afternoon moved onto ITEM 5: AIR POLLUTION AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY. Whereby the Committee will consider:
1. The results of sulphur monitoring for 2015;
2. The interim report of the Correspondence Group on EEDI review required under regulation 21.6 of MARPOL Annex VI, together with information in the EEDI database;
3. The report of Correspondence Group on Fuel oil quality; and
4. The final report by the Chairman of the Ad Hoc Expert Working Group on Facilitation of Transfer of Technology for Ships.
