MG Management Receives World’s First Membrane Scrubber Installation

MG Management has completed installation of Ionada Incorporated’s Membrane Scrubber to its RoRo carrier, representing the world’s first installation of a ceramic membrane scrubber technology.

The Nolhanava RoRo vessel features the sulphur oxides (SOx) membrane scrubber that will enable the ship to operate in Emission Control Areas (ECAs) in full compliance with the 0.1% permitted sulphur emission limit.

The scrubber reduces fuel consumption and has the added benefit of no environmental challenges with overboard discharge.  The membrane scrubber can be applied to both newbuilds and as a simplified retrofit option.

The installation was completed at COSCO Nantong Shipyards in Nantong, China.
