Greek ship owner Minerva Marine has said that they intend to expand their use of Thordon Bearings’ ThorPlas-Blue grease–free, environmentally-safe product on their vessels’ bronze mooring winch bearings.
Minerva Marine previously replaced the greased bronze mooring winch bearing with ThorPlas-Blue on its 58,156gt crude oil tanker Minerva Hellen, and is now planning to apply the grease-free alternative to other vessels in the fleet.
The company says that since replacing the bronze bearing more than two years ago they have eliminated costs and maintenance associated with the constant application of grease.
