MISC Achieves 33,057-Tonne CO2 Emissions Reduction

MISC Berhard’s (MISC) latest Sustainability Report outlines the company’s achieved reduction  of 33,057 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

The sustainability report, which covers the year of 2015 also reveals that five of the company’s new Moss type liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers will be fitted with green technologies to improve energy efficiency, reduce emissions, and assist with biodiversity management and end of life disposal.

The report also details how the company has recovered or recycled 97% of hazardous waste from non-shipping operations.

According to President / Group Chief Executive Officer Yee Yang Chien, sustainability is an integral part of MISC’s operations, including reducing environmental impact, managing employees correctly and creating a positive impact on the local community.

Mr Yee Yang Chien commented: “Our systematic and structured approach in managing MISC’s sustainability performance over the past few years involves a continuous endeavour to conduct our business operations in a responsible and sustainable manner, define and enhance relationships with our key stakeholders as well as ensure holistic value creation over time. 2015 marks a significant milestone in MISC’s commitment to sustainability as we refreshed our Vision and Mission to ensure sustainability is central to the way we conduct business.”
