MOL launches LNG capesize bulker study

TOKYO-Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has agreed to launch a five company joint project to study the feasibility of a liquefied natural gas (LNG)-fueled Capesize bulker.

What do you need to know?

–      Companies participating are; BHP Billiton, DNV GL, Rio Tinto, Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI) and Woodside Energy.

–      “Green Corridor” project aims to reduce vessels’ emissions of NOX and SOX in advance of tightening emissions standards,

–      Project will examine the technological and economic feasibility of an LNG-fueled bulker.

–      Letter of agreement signed in Singapore on January 20.
