Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) is to install Langh Tech scrubbers to two of its cruise ships from the Breakaway Plus class.
The hybrid scrubber systems will allow the newbuild cruise ships to operate compliantly in Emission Control Areas (ECAs) where the maximum permitted sulphur limit release is 0.1%.
The total delivery order includes scrubber units for all five engines on each cruise ship and treatment plants for the scrubber water to ensure compliant discharge.
Although the scrubber tower has been designed by Langh Tech, it will be manufactured at the Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany. The components for the water treatment plant will be manufactured at Langh Tech’s production facility at Piikkiö, Finland, and delivered to the shipyard where the newbuild cruise ships are being constructed.
