Fathom Maritime Intelligence, the specialist provider of market intelligence publications and maritime industry events, have today announced that nominations for The Ship Efficiency Awards 2016 are officially open
The 2016 awards, which are once again to be hosted by Lloyd’s Register, will be held during a gala dinner at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel & Conference Centre in London on November 2, 2016.
The Ship Efficiency Awards were launched by Fathom Maritime Intelligence in 2014 to give recognition to excellence in technological innovation, progressive initiatives and energy efficiency enablers in the shipping industry. These awards celebrate the companies, initiatives and individuals that continue to make a real difference in advancing energy efficient, sustainable shipping operations.
These awards honour and celebrate progression in ship efficiency across six award categories: the Energy Efficiency Solution award, the Environmental Technology award, the Initiative of the Year award, the Sustainable Ship Operator of the Year award, The One to Watch award and the Outstanding Contribution to Ship Efficiency award (as voted by the public).
Shortlisted finalists and the overall winner of each award will be selected by a highly esteemed judging panel of:
- Mark Cameron, Chief Operating Officer, Ardmore Shipping;
- Iver Iversen, Director New Technology and Regulatory Affairs Wilh. Wilhelmsen;
- Arthur Bowring, Managing Director, Hong Kong Shipowners Association;
- Craig Eason, Deputy Editor, Lloyd’s List;
- Tristan Smith, Lecturer in Energy and Transport, University College London; and
- Jesper Loldrup, Head EOSG and of Policy and Planning, International Maritime Organization.
The judging proceedings will be overseen by the awards chairman Katharine Palmer, Environmental Manager at Lloyd’s Register, who will ensure nominations are fairly scored and deliberations are without biased or pre-assumptions regarding nominees.
Katharine Palmer, Environmental Manager at Lloyd’s Register said: “It is important that we properly celebrate and promote those furthering the knowledge and possibilities for the wider industry so that all can benefit. Despite a number of awards schemes within the shipping industry, none are specifically and wholly dedicated to ship efficiency.”
“These awards have been developed in order to address this and ensure that the industry leaders are prominently identified and we are very proud to be supporting them once again this year,” Palmer continued.
The deadline for nomination entries is September 23, 2016. Shortlisted finalists for each award category will be announced on October 1, 2016. Award winners will be presented during the Ship Efficiency Awards Ceremony on November 2, 2016.
Only work or achievements taking place in the last 12 months (2015-2016) will be eligible for the 2016 awards. Each award has a specified criterion that entries must meet and demonstrate in order to be eligible.
