Norbulk Shipping has decided to move its IT systems to ‘the cloud’ via the cloud migrator for Google Cloud Technology Solutions, in order to reduce the burden of administrative tasks on its seafarers.
Using the cloud based technology, the adoption of paperless systems can progress. Improved communications and transparency, changing information flow and transfer of email, calendars, contact, and appointments from its old mail server to the new cloud based system are just some of the benefits.
The integrated management system can also show submissions from ships and all documentation in once place. Everything can be logged into the system electronically to reduce the amount of paper used.
Norbulk began the strategy with a pilot scheme in its Glasgow office, receiving positive feedback and has since decided to roll out across other management offices in Riga, Saint John New Brunswick, Manilla and St Petersburg.
