Østensjø Rederi has contracted Optimarin to install its Optimarin Ballast System (OBS) on a monohull accommodation vessel.
The Edda Fides is operated by Østensjø Rederi’s subsidiary, Edda Accommodation, and serves the oil and gas industry worldwide. It is designed to fulfil demanding operational requirements in harsh offshore environments.
The OBS has full International Maritime Organization (IMO) approval and is certified through DNV GL, Lloyd’s, Bureau Veritas, MLIT Japan, and American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). It is expected to attain US Coast Guard (USCG) approval by autumn this year.
Optimarin secured the business following on from the success of a previous installation on the firm’s Edda Fortis in 2015. The ballast system has been dispatched to Galveston, USA and is expected to complete installation by the end of Q1 2016.
