Panasia Seals 79 Ship Ballast Water System Deal

Panasia Co., has signed a USD 16.5 million contract with a ship management company in Europe to supply its ballast water treatment system (BWTS), GloEn-Patrol, for 79 ships.

GloEn-Patrol utilises ultraviolet rays to sterilise microorganisms.

Compared to the alternative method using electrolysis, GloEn-Patrol technology consumes less power when installed in a large ship and as it does not have to be reprocessed via neutralising agent it is more competitive and efficient on the market.

According to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), there are about 55,000 ships worldwide that will be required to install a new BWTS once the Ballast Water Management Convention enters into force. The BWTS market is estimated to reach more than USD 43.9 billion.
