PRESS RELEASE: Marine Design & Research Institute of China (MARIC), a subsidiary company of China State Shipbuilding Corporation group (CSSC), has signed a licence agreement with Lloyd’s Register (LR) for use of their ShipRight FastTrack software.
ShipRight FastTrack assists ship designers with the increased requirements demanded in Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Under the latest IACS and Classification Rules the scope for FEA requirements is increasing and initial structural designers need to spend more time on FEA as a result.
Highly beneficial time savings can be made with the use of this software that can generate the qualified FE mesh model quickly from 2D/3D plans without the need for excessive and expensive human intervention. The post process is enhanced, the result plot is displayed swiftly and an improved reporting function enables FE analysis for commercial ships and floating offshore units to be carried out efficiently.
MARIC Structure Section Chief, Mr. Han Yu commented: “We are very pleased to improve our design process with the assistance of LR’s new design software, ShipRight FastTrack, which will enable us to save a significant amount of time and effort spent on finite element analysis for commercial ships.
“We are currently designing a 180K bulk carrier where classification rules and procedures require a large volume of finite element analysis, especially with regards to this specific ship type, so we decided to purchase the ShipRight FastTrack license to enable us to complete this design on time and avoid a delay in the shipbuilding schedule.”
LR’s Innovation Strategy and Research Director, Luis Benito said: “LR’s ShipRight FastTrack was produced in collaboration with RaonX Solutions Co. Ltd. for the ship design cluster to overcome one of their most prominent challenges. LR is very proud that MARIC, one of the major ship design companies in China, will improve their ship design efficiency with our product.”
