Press Release: Tech firm Prevention at Sea gains Cyprus Flag approval for oil Record book software

Press Release: Maritime technology and risk minimisation company, Prevention at Sea, has gained recognition from the Cyprus flag for its multi-award winning ε-ORB (Oil Record Book) software developed in conjunction with the Liberian Ship Registry.

“This recognition from the Cyprus flag is so important to us, as this growing maritime cluster has the third largest fleet within the EU with over 1000 vessels,” said Petros Achtypis, CEO of Prevention at Sea. The Cyprus flag is committed to safety and quality so this endorsement validates the care with which we devised a really intuitive application that will help reduce mistakes in oil record book entry, minimising the risk of fines from port state control inspections. All ship managers, owners and operators should consider this product as it is entirely transparent, credible and traceable.”

Prevention at Sea has been in existence since 2013 and its key aim is to help ship operators reduce risk to avoid incidents at sea which could lead to detentions, periods of off-hire, or costly fines.

“Ship management is such a competitive market at the moment, with slim margins so any interval where a vessel is out of action for whatever reason can be extremely costly for a company,” said Mr Achtypis.

“Our inspectors are trained to spot things before they become serious issues, ensuring masters are aware and what is required to rectify them. In this way, we can help keep vessels on-hire making money for the manager, charterer and owner,” he continued.
